2 We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. 3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

My Thoughts

vv 2-3 is a clear reminder that we need to be grateful for the work done for God’s kingdom.

4 For we know, brothers and sisters[b] loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6 You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.

My Thoughts

I have one question, then I will get to my observations.

Question, Verses 4-5 says, they know that they were chosen because the gospel came with power. So question, if the gospel someone preaches comes with no power, Holy Spirit, or deep conviction, does that mean it’s a false gospel?

Observations –

  1. We are LOVED by GOD. v4
  2. Their words came with POWER, HOLY SPIRIT, AND DEEP CONVICTION. v5
  3. The way they lived; was remembered. v5
  4. Even in suffering; they remembered and modeled the lives that they were shown. v6
